Golden Disk Awards is deemed as South Korea’s version of the prestigious Grammy’s. But honestly, I don’t think winning in GDA is an honor. I don’t know. If you look at it, the award show is more of summing an artist entire sales for the year. So basically, the quality of the album released is not a factor. It’s all about the quantity of the album that was sold. Music Bank anyone? BoA and Super Junior won Disk Bonsang, but the songs they have released this year wasn’t even THAT popular. I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me.
Also, I don’t think the award is given to the right people. Though SNSD already won Disk Bonsang, they should have also won Digital Bonsang. Also, C.N.Blue and Miss A should have won rookies of the year along with Sistar. Some people in allkpop commented that if an artist won in one category, they are excluded in winning the other one. But I don’t still get the exclusion. Give credit if they deserve it.
Seoul Music in my opinion is the award to look out for. It balances quality and quantity.
